Natural Remedies For Constipation In Kids

If you believe your child is constipated, here are some safe and secure ways to get relief at home:

1. Juice (pear, white grape, and prune). The extract (4 ounces or less per day) promotes bowel emptying because of glucose, called sorbitol, that isn’t digested quickly, so it stays in the stool. It increases fluid in the excreta, making it softer and more comfortable to pass.

3. Increased fiber. We all know high-fat foods, and unhealthy eating habits can cause many health problems, including constipation. To make a diet rich in fiber, get them to eat several servings of fruits and vegetables each day, along with plenty of water.

4. Increased Occasions. Have your child go to the toilet for a few minutes frequently. You can make this enjoyable for them by having a toilet chart where each attempt rewards them with a sticker. After a set number of attempts, the child receives a prize. Giving rewards and making it an enjoyable experience helps the child feel comfortable about going, plus helps them understand it’s a good thing to do, so they don’t withhold bowel movements and cause, or worsen, constipation.
