In essence, diabetes is a condition in which the body cannot process and regulate blood sugar levels. It can be seen as a lifelong condition in which the body’s blood glucose, otherwise known as blood sugar, content becomes higher or lower than average and cannot regulate naturally. Why is your blood sugar levels so important? Blood sugar is the body’s primary source of energy, which powers up every process happening inside our body.

Major Types Of Diabetes

Three major types:

  • Type 1 – This kind of diabetes happens when the body fails to produce insulin. Most people suffering from this kind are insulin-dependent. Thus, this means that they need to take insulin shots every day to survive, regulating their blood sugar levels.
  • Type 2 –  Is a type that the body still produces insulin, yet, the body does not respond to it regularly. Most people who suffer from this type of diabetes are overweight. Thus, this is the most common type of diabetes.
  • Gestational Diabetes – Is a rare kind of diabetes that only happens to women during pregnancy. In this case, the body becomes less responsive to insulin and usually goes away after giving birth.
