  • Non-cardiac chest pain. As its name implies, are those pains we experience around the chest area that has nothing to do with our hearts. It may feel like your chest would burst up. And sometimes will spread to your neck, arms, and back. Most people who suffer this kind of chest pain also suffer from Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. Thus, this is also the most common cause of chest pain too. And causes are muscle problems like esophageal motility disorder and esophageal hypersensitivity.
  • Cardiac chest pain, on the other hand, is caused by any disorder that has something to do with the person’s heart. The most common cause of this is Coronary Artery Disease or CAD. CAD is a blockade in the heart vessel that usually results in the reduction of blood flow. And oxygen to the heart itself as well. Thus, this is traditionally called angina and is mostly fatal if left unchecked.

There are a lot of possible causes, signs, and symptoms of chest pain. It is either one or a combination of the following:

  • Heart Attack, for most extreme cases
  • Angina
  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Acid reflux, commonly known as heartburn
  • Gallstones
  • Esophagus disorders that lead to difficulty in swallowing food
  • Possible pneumonia
  • Bronchospasm
  • A pulmonary embolus
  • Other diseases that have to do with the heart, the esophagus, and other organs in the chest like the lungs.

  • Garlic – chewing garlic can also help.
  • Apple cider vinegar – good against acid reflux
  • Ginger – A great source of anti-inflammatory chemicals which can help ease chest pain.

  • Lying down – This position can eliminate gastric acid from going up the esophagus. Just make sure your head is elevated above the body by using a pillow, or something soft.
  • Aspirin – is an excellent pain reliever that can alleviate most pains, including chest pain.
  • Drinking hot or warm drinks – Can eliminate gas if the person is experiencing bloating that results in chest pains.
  • Cold pack – If due to muscle strain due to exercise or other activities. A cold pack can provide temporary relief to chest pain.


In case you suspect that your chest pain is due to a heart issue, it is much better to ask for help. And to rush you right away to the hospital. Thus, this is because there is a chance that you might be experiencing a heart attack. Or something severe and life-threatening.
